QVAC Health Guide: Tether's Private, On-Device Health App

QVAC Health turns wearable data into an encrypted, offline dashboard — AI logging and meal photo analysis, all on-device.

QVAC Health is Tether's privacy-first health and wellness app, built on QVAC so that all your most sensitive data — heart rate, workouts, meals, biomarkers — is analyzed by AI running on your device, and none of it goes to the cloud. Health data is about as personal as it gets, which makes it a fitting showcase for on-device AI. Here's a full guide.

What it is

QVAC Health is a personal health and wellness companion powered by AI that runs entirely on your device. It gathers your fitness, nutrition, and biometric data into a single encrypted dashboard, and the on-device AI interprets and organizes it — all locally. It launched in late 2025.

Tether positions it as an "offline-first operating system" for personal wellness, contrasting with health apps that rely on cloud sync. Per its app store listing, the developer collects no data from the app.

What it does

  • AI-powered logging — type or speak entries like workouts, meals, symptoms, biomarkers, and medications, and the on-device AI interprets and files them on your timeline.
  • Wearable connectivity — connect supported wearables and health devices (with expanding Bluetooth Low Energy support to read raw sensor data without cloud APIs).
  • Intelligent aggregation and analysis — unify steps, heart rate, sleep, nutrition, and more, with trend, strain, and recovery analysis.
  • Vision and OCR — experimental features include reading medical records via OCR and recognizing meals from photos.
  • Medication tracking with privacy-preserving reminders.
  • Educational insights to support informed decisions.

Because its AI models are downloaded peer-to-peer and run locally, the app can function fully offline.

Why on-device matters here especially

Health data is the category where "where does my data go?" matters most. Traditional health apps often sync to the cloud; QVAC Health keeps everything encrypted and local, so your biometric history isn't sitting on someone else's servers. For people who've been reluctant to hand detailed health data to a commercial service, that's the entire appeal — you get AI analysis without the data ever leaving your device.

An important note from Tether: QVAC Health provides general health and wellness information for educational purposes. It is not a medical diagnostic tool, and you should consult licensed healthcare professionals for medical advice.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants the convenience of an AI health tracker without the privacy trade-off of cloud sync. It's especially compelling for the privacy-conscious and for people consolidating data from multiple wearables into one private place.

How it relates to what we build

QVAC Health is Tether's own app, and it's a great illustration of the pattern we follow at localhost/AI: take a category where data is deeply personal, and build it on QVAC so the data never leaves the device. Health is Tether's domain; for us it will be private notes and private finance (Local Notes and Local Money, both coming soon) — same on-device principle, different life areas.
